X-Games Aspen 2017
There is no rest for the Snow Park Technologies (SPT) crew at this time of year. The SPT build team and staff started with the Dew Tour in Breckenridge Resort, Colorado back in November. Upon completion of this exciting event they packed their bags and headed out to Buttermilk Resort in Aspen, Colorado. Once in Aspen, the team started all over again as they began to build the features for the premier event in action snow sports, The X Games.
Here is where the world's elite is getting together
The X Games, owned and orchestrated by sports broadcaster ESPN, is an invitation only event meant to showcase the world's best ski, snowboard and snowmobile athletes in snow action sports. Skiers and snowboarders will compete in Big Air, Slopestyle and Superpipe events. Snowmobilers and snow bikers will contend in Best Trick, Freestyle, SnoCross, SnoCross Adaptive and Snow Bike Racing. Snow Park Technologies is responsible for designing and building each and every feature. Delivery under difficult conditions
December 15 marked the first day of the Superpipe build. The PistenBully Grand Junction based team handled the logistics of transporting and setting up PistenBully machines from all across the country to work the build. This year, delivering the machines was particularly challenging as Justin Tate, PistenBully Rocky Mountain Regional Sales Representative can attest: "We had the challenge of wide load restrictions due to road construction. To work around this, the first five cats were completely broken down and set up on site." The remaining five PistenBully machines have since arrived in Aspen, for a total of ten. The fleet for the X Games build is diverse and includes several 400 Park Pro 4F along with 600 and 600 Polar models as well as 400 and 400 Winch. With PistenBully ahead of the times
So far, the X Games build has been a success. SPT is all too familiar with working around a tight deadline. It is crucial that their equipment performs to their high standards and withstands many hours of around the clock work. The PistenBully machines have been meeting and in some respects, exceeding these high standards. SPT co-founder, Mike Binnell, reported that "this is the best we have ever had it and we are way ahead on the build." He continued: "These cats are a total working tool that makes our jobs much easier." Among SPT's favorite PistenBully features: traction, climbing ability, range of motion of the implements and cabin comfort are just a few that stand out. X Games is scheduled for January 26-29 and SPT must complete all of the features prior to the practice days preceding the event. For their crew, it's always a good feeling to be ahead of schedule. PistenBully is thrilled to be working with such a professional organization and some of the best operators around for its first year of involvement with this event.
